Political context
To make up this shortcoming, as part of the 2019-2023 Legislature Programme, the Federal Council decided to establish a ‘National Strategy for Gender Equality’. This ‘Gender Equality Strategy 2030’ focuses on promoting equality in working life, improving the balance between work and family life and combating discrimination, sexism and violence.
Collaboration
Strategy of the Confederation, in collaboration with the cantons and communes
The Gender Equality Strategy 2030 is a work programme for the Confederation, which is resolutely committed to advancing equality. However, its implementation also requires the active participation of the cantons and communes, as well as regular exchanges with civil society, in particular the NGOs working in this area, and the business and academic communities.

Indicators
Indicators are used to measure the progress made in the various areas of action. These indicators are essentially those of the legislative programme, as defined by the SFSO. Some refer to several areas of action.
