To achieve the aims of the Gender Equality Strategy 2030, action is needed in four key areas.

Each area of action contains a general objective and several specific objectives aimed at achieving gender equality. It should be possible to adopt or implement the measures contained in this document during the current legislature period, i.e. by the end of 2023.

These priority measures (2021-2023) presented by the Confederation form only the first part of the Gender Equality Strategy 2030, which should generate a new dynamic and renewed ambition among all the players and partners involved in equality policy in Switzerland.

The measures adopted in the strategy will be supplemented by a second part, which will specify and complete them. This will also be an opportunity for interested cantons and communes to clearly demonstrate their ambitions by including their own measures.

The measures will be accompanied by quantitative targets wherever possible.

In addition, for certain areas of action, specific objectives and measures are proposed for the Federal Administration, which must set an example in order to initiate a knock-on effect on the private sector as well as on cantonal and communal administrations. In addition, Switzerland's contribution to equality at international level is also expressed in the form of specific measures.
