Description Objectives and Measures National Action Plan Istanbul Convention
Description
Gender-specific violence is a widespread problem in Switzerland, causing not only great human suffering but also significant social and economic costs. By taking determined action against violence, people's personal safety is improved and inequalities are reduced. The fight must continue, whether against domestic violence or against other forms of gender-specific violence, particularly physical, psychological and sexual violence, obsessive harassment (stalking), sexual harassment, trafficking in women, forced marriage or female genital mutilation. Reducing gender-specific violence could also have an impact on working life, by removing an obstacle to women's economic independence.

This action plan of the Confederation, cantons and communes is a measure of the Gender Equality Strategy 2030 and was adopted by the Federal Council in June 2022. Its 44 measures are also integrated into the ‘gender-specific violence’ area of action of the Gender Equality Strategy 2030.
